Why is Columbus State Trying to Engage Students?

        students registering to vote the Delaware CampusAs one of the largest and most diverse community colleges in Ohio, Columbus State plays a pivotal role in the civic life of Central Ohio. We take this responsibility seriously. As a result, we are building on our student democratic engagement practices in a coordinated, organized, and impactful way across our entire institution.

In 2020 Columbus State joined the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) initiative through the Institute for Democracy and Higher Education at Tufts University to learn more about our students’ voting registration and participation rates. This data helps us measure and improve students' voting engagement.

Become a WorkElections Fellow

Campus Vote Project (CVP) is enlisting/training students as paid WorkElections Fellows, who will then recruit their peers as poll workers for the November 2020 general election. CVP will training student recruiters to be effective campus organizers and peer educators about the important role of poll workers in protecting our democracy.

WorkElections Fellows will get a $1,000 stipend for two months of recruitment work, beginning September 8th, 2020. Read more at this Google doc, and apply via this Google doc.
