Periodicals: Periodical Services

Magazines & Journals

Rows of shelves with magazines and journals arranged in neat stacks.

Magazines and journals are located on the 3rd floor of the library. There are titles in print covering various topics to assist your research. Periodicals cannot be checked out of the library, but photocopiers are on all three floors for your use.

The library also has older issues of print titles and other e-journals available online. Most of the library's journals are available at the E-Journal Finder to determine which databases contain the full-text for a particular title. If a full-text article isn't available, librarians on the 2nd floor can assist you by checking its availability at another OhioLINK institution or another Columbus library.

Why Use Print?

If you haven’t yet decided on a research topic, browsing through print copies of journals in your field of study allows you to explore subject matter that might give you an idea for your essay.

In addition, learning the names of leading professionals in your field and keeping up-to-date on issues and developments in your field can be valuable information when interviewing for a job.

Why Can't I Find a Print Issue?

The issue may not have been received yet (check the Library Catalog).

  • Someone may be looking at the issue you are searching for.
  • The issue may be waiting to be reshelved.
  • Despite security precautions, some issues get stolen.
