The young woman was a militant in the UES (Secondary Students Union) and Ruben was part of the JUP (Peronist University Youth). His friends used to call him “La Chancha” (The She Pig). The couple was kidnapped on January 21, 1977 on the streets of the town of Quimes in the Great Buenos Aires. Ines was seven months pregnant. They were both sighted in the 5th Police Detachment in the city of LaPlata and in the CCD (Clandestine Detention Centre) “Pozo de Arana”, The young woman was also observed at the Brigada de Investigaciones de La Plata (La Plata’s Investigation Brigade). Through surviving witnesses, it was known that Ines, on March 12th, 1977 gave birth to a baby boy in the kitchen of the 5th Police Detachment and gave him the name of Leonardo. The delivery was assisted by Dr. Jorge Antonio Berges, who was a police physician. The young mother could only spend five days with her child and then the guards told her that “El Coronel” (The Colonel) wanted to know the baby and that he would deliver Leonardo to his biological family.

On March of 2004 a young man with doubts about his identity and information which certified that he was not the son of the people who had raised him, reached out to “Filial La Plata de Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo” (La Plata Branch of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo). A little while later he approached the CONADI (Comision Nacional por el Derecho a la Identidad: National Commission for the Right to Identity) where the genetic testing was ordered through the BNDG (Banco Nacional de Datos Geneticos: National Bank of Genetic Data). The testing was completed during the month of November 2004 and on August 11th, 2004 the results confirmed that Leonardo was the son of Ines and Ruben.

His parents are still disappeared.
