General Writing and Formatting Guides

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Writing Center or UNC Writing Center provides a "Tips and Tools" page for the categories below:

Hooking the Reader In

The Brandeis University Writing Center provides a page dedicated to the topic of hooking the reader in, which includes eight suggestions for how we could open our essay.

Crafting an Effective Title

Yale College Writing Center provides handouts on a variety of subjects but one in particular we highlight here is on composing an effective title. This handout covers the composing of titles for papers in humanities, sciences, and social sciences as well as for non-academic writing.

Reverse Outlining
