The Database Doesn't Have Full Text for My Article. Now What?

During your search, you may encounter times when the full text (PDF or HTML) of an article is not available in the database. Follow these steps to see how you may locate an electronic or print version of your article:

If PDF and HTML full text are unavailable, click in certain databases to locate print copies in Columbus State's library or electronic copies in another database, such as the Electronic Journal Center.
If you know the name of the journal in which the article appears, search the eResource Lookup to see if the journal is available online in one of the research databases.
If the article is not available at Columbus State's library or electronically through the research databases, search the OhioLINK catalog for print holdings at nearby college or university libraries.

The following databases offer access to newspaper articles in Central Ohio and across the state. Although you may find your topic in one database, be sure to check additional databases for a more well-rounded perspective.

Full-text database of archived articles from The Columbus Dispatch from the 1980s to present is provided via the NewsBank database platform.

American Antiquarian Society Historical Periodicals Collection: Series 1
Presents titles from 1691 through 1820 including print culture from early colonial imports to titles published on American soil during the Revolution and early republic.
American Antiquarian Society Historical Periodicals Collection: Series 2
Presents titles dating from 1821 through 1837 ranging from early works imported by the colonists to later titles published on American soil during the early republic.
American Antiquarian Society Historical Periodicals Collection: Series 3
Presents titles dating from 1838 through 1852 revealing a rapidly growing young nation, where industrialization, the railroads, regional political differences, and life on the western frontier were daily realities.
American Antiquarian Society Historical Periodicals Collection: Series 4
Presents titles dating from 1853 through 1865. The Civil War is a focal point of the collection. News from the battlefront can be found, in addition to science, literature, medicine, agriculture, women’s fashion, family life, and religion.
American Antiquarian Society Historical Periodicals Collection: Series 5
Presents titles dating from 1866 through 1877 includes the incorporation of the recently-freed African Americans into American life; a population that rapidly expanded into the Western territories.
