[B/w photo of Louise Nevelson, posed before one of her assemblage sculptures.  Nevelson, a Jewish-American artist whose family emigrated from Russia in 1905, was one of the most important figures in 20th century sculpture.  Her assemblage pieces are often larger-than-life and painted in monochrome black or white.]
