World Book Night

As part of World Book Night, a celebration promoting the value of reading, the CSCC Delaware Learning Center gave away 20 copies of The Stand by Stephen King on April 23rd, 2012.

For World Book Night,  tens of thousands of people went out into their communities to spread the joy and love of reading by giving out free World Book Night paperbacks.

Additionally, April 23 is UNESCO's World Book Day, chosen due to the anniversary of Cervantes' death and Shakespeare's birth and death.

When a man escapes from a biological testing facility, he sets in motion a deadly domino effect, spreading a mutated strain of the flu that will wipe out 99 percent of humanity within a few weeks. The survivors who remain are scared, bewildered, and in need of a leader. Two emerge--Mother Abagail, the benevolent 108-year-old woman who urges them to build a community in Boulder, Colorado; and Randall Flagg, the nefarious "Dark Man," who delights in chaos and violence.
